Cora Cart | Design for Extreme Affordability
“Food is maybe the only universal thing that really has the power to bring everyone together. No matter what culture, everywhere around the world, people get together to eat.” Guy Fieri
Small food carts are one of the most utilized ways of income generation for the Hispanic community in San José. Unfortunately, these carts are usually homemade without much thought about human factors, ergonomics, utility, hygiene, environment or scale.
I worked with students of San José State University to come up with a new and better design to benefit food vendors and add value to the city fabric by fostering diverse food options through the cards. The city of San Jose Economic Development Department has taken a keen interest by involving all the stakeholders to make Cora Cart a reality.
